CHURCH OFFICIAL DEFINES ON-GOING SYMPOSIUM IS A NEW BEGINNING

The Archbishop of Khartoum and President of the Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference, said yesterday in Juba that the on going symposium under the theme of “One church, every tribe, tongue and people” is a new beginning for the Church in the Sudan and South Sudan in a special way.

Addressing participants at the symposium, Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako stated that there is need for the catholic dioceses to settle with a new structure.

Cardinal Zubir raised the need for pastoral planning in each diocese.

He said that the symposium can offer relevant material for a proper planning, so that the liberation of the South is not only political, but is also an opportunity for Christian life to liberate its potentials and stand its ground with conviction, especially about the dignity of each person.

Cardinal Zubeir was addressing about 600 people on the topic of the second day of the Symposium, the present situation of the church.

In attendance are representatives from all the Catholic dioceses of Sudan and South Sudan, and also bishops and representatives from other Christian denominations where in attendance.

The symposium will end on Sunday, with a solemn Mass in St. Teresa’s Cathedral, Kator.
