The SPLA says it has arrested soldiers suspected of killing two civilians and wounding another last week at Moli-Tokuro, in Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria.

Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore told the press that the government is investigating people responsible for the death of innocent civilians, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He added that the army commander at Moli reported to have arrested soldiers who allegedly participated in the shooting.

Mr. Lobong said the community took a wrong step by blocking an international highway.

He added that road blocks have negative impact in the economy and it happened already twice in that area along the Juba-Nimule highway.

Mr. Lobong said the state has deployed three committees to resolve the Magwi conflict.

The first committee was entrusted to fact finding and the second team to investigate people involved in the conflict.

The third team was led by the deputy governor Nartisio Manir Loluke to calm down and reconcile the Acholi and Ma’di communities.

The governor says the peace between the Acholi and Ma’di communities was broken 30 years ago after the Ma’di chief Kebulu was killed between Magwi and Moli.

Mr. Lobong believes that land conflicts like the one between Acholi and Ma’di need the intervention of the President of South Sudan.

He asked Salva Kiir Mayardit to appoint a committee to find as a lasting solution.
