Members of Eastern Equatoria State Assembly unanimously resolved yesterday that the government should investigate and arrests those who killed two Toposa boys at Lokaburu, in Ngauro Payam, Budi County.
The Assembly also recommended that over 160 heads of cattle raided on the fateful day, should be recovered and handed to the owners, Emmanuel Radio reported. The sitting was chaired by speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi who presented the resolutions for approval.
The killing, abduction and raiding this year of over 1,000 cattle prompted the House to ask the government to review and implement peace resolutions.
Mr. Ocholimoi attributed the continued killings, abductions and raids to the state government failure to implement Ngauro, Chahari and Nawiapak peace resolutions.
The speaker stressed that the peace resolutions should be followed and implemented immediately to avoid recurrence of violence, citing the Ngauro peace agreement of September 2009, and Nawapak resolutions of May, this year, as failures.
The resolution of the state Assembly followed a motion on “urgent and important matter”,moved by Deputy Speaker Paul Napwon.
He raised a concern over the killing of two Toposa boys on September 27 by suspects believed to be from Budi County.
Another five children were abducted and over 160 animals stolen during the raid.
Area chiefs have identified the suspects but no arrest has been yet made.
