Unauthorized clearing agencies and illegal tax officers at Nimule have refused to stop their activities as directed by the state government.
Some agencies said they do not follow directives from Eastern Equatoria state government claiming that the deputy minister for interior in the national government Silva Matak authorized them to operate.Eastern Equatoria state deputy governor Nartisio Manir Loluke said the deputy minister of interior denied the authorization saying the institutions should first be screened.
He added that no government operates on verbal instructions and a minister cannot issue a permission without reversing an earlier order to county commissioners to close illegal clearing agencies.
The deputy governor told some institutions that they should forget old times when people of selfish interests used to be protected by godfathers.
