A combined operation of police and military forces recovered over 600 heads of stolen cattle from Lolianga Boma, Ifotu Payam in Torit County.

Torit County Commissioner Felix Otuduha Siro told Radio Emmanuel that the operation followed a tip off from the public.

He said the forces exchanged fire before finally overpowering the suspects who escaped to the hills as the police recovered the animals.

Mr. Siro swaid the fugitive killed an officer from Joint Integrated Unit (JIU) and escaped to arm himself with his other colleagues for looting people.

The Deputy Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, who is also the minister for law enforcement, Nartisio Manir Loluke says the recovery of the animals is a continuation of the Peace and Justice Mission that started in June this year.

Mr. Loluke said the recovered cows will be given back to the true owners.
