Eastern Equatoria Assembly has resolved to summon the minister for Land and Public Utility over illegal distribution of land plots in Torit.

This comes after MP Aventore Kenyi Bilal tabled a motion citing unauthorized surveyors who passed for ministry officials marking and distributing plots in Torit, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He said some staff within the ministry of Housing and Public Utility in the department of town planning were involved in the illegal acts without the knowledge of the minister.

Mr. Kenyi added that the imposters are surveying and distributing plots to people without permission from the minister and the county commissioner.

The MP cited areas around north, east and south of Dr. John Garang De Mabior Memorial School as being invaded by the illegal surveyors.

He says the most recent illegal land survey and distribution occurred at Naivasha and Ipalang, both first class residential areas that had already been distributed to people.

After a heated debate, the MPs agreed that speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi summoned the minister for Housing and the Torit County Commissioner within seven days to explain the issue of the surveyors to the House.
