The government of Central Equatoria together with a foreign investor launched the construction of two modern buildings of five and 12 storeys in Juba.
Governor Clement Wani Konga placed yesterday the foundation stone for the two buildings: a five-storey construction of executive apartments in Juba-na-Bari and a 12-storey named Equatoria Tower at Hai Neem for offices and commerce.UAP-South Sudan Insurance Company Director Scopas J. Dima told SCR News that the apartments in Juba-na-Bari will meet international standards of quality and target civil servants and NGO executives.
Prof. Dima explains that the Equatoria Tower will occupy a 7,500-square meter space and it will cost 15 million US dollars.
He said the building will provide offices for investors and banks and shopping mall facilities.
Prof. Dima said the Equatoria Tower will employ about 300 workers and the construction takes two years.
He added that non-specialised labour must be reserved to local people of Central Equatoria and South Sudan.
Eric Lin is the Chinese contractor building the apartments at Juba-na-Bari.
He said he has employed 54 workers mostly from Kenya and Uganda.
He added that he had no problem employing foreign workers as long as they worked hard for him.
