Rumbek Senior Secondary School did not open yet due to lack of money.

Headmaster Malou Makoi Ayuek Ater told Good News Radio that the school was scheduled to reopen on August 22 but the administration does not have money to run the institution.

He said the school fees collected from the students earlier in the year were already spent on food and firewood.

Mr. Malou appealed to the central government in Juba to fulfil the promise of providing the school with the much needed funds.

He added he needs 50 thousand South Sudanese pounds in order to reopen the school.

He urged Lakes State authorities to support the school especially at this time of dire need.

Mr. Malou decried the lack of response from the ministry of education in Juba.

He said Rumbek Senior Secondary is a boarding school and it did not receive any financial support since the beginning of the year.

Rumbek Senior Secondary students started their holidays on August 1 without sitting for the end of term examinations.
