An official from Lakes State lamented the unjustified deduction of salaries, blaming the State Ministry of Finance for the unfair practice.
Director of Employees’ Justice Chamber in Lakes State Joseph Akot Mabor told Good News Radio that a section of civil servants is reporting deductions of salaries by the State Ministry of Finance whenever salaries are released.Mr. Akot urged the State Ministry of Finance to manage well the resources of the State reminding the officials that they are custodians of the State’s resources.
Mr. Akot said staff in his department has been affected by unjustified deductions on salaries.
He added that he decided to go public to protect the interests of government employees in Lakes State.
He appealed to the members of the public to report to his office their grievances with regard to salaries, explaining that all government employees have the right to get the full salary.
Director of Accounts in Lakes State Ministry of Finance Abraham Guele Beny denied the allegations.
He said the State Ministry of Finance does not keep any labelled funds.
He explained that the office of Employees’ Justice Chamber failed to submit its financial report during the first quarter of this year and so the inconveniences they experience are of their own making.
Mr. Guele appealed to all government institutions to submit their monthly financial reports to the Ministry of Finance as a sign of accountability.
