A financial crisis has forced The Juba Post to suspend five reporters to cut down on spending and meet the high cost of printing the paper.

The Juba Post editor in Chief Michael Koma confirms to SCR News that five reporters were temporarily suspended on Monday due to what he called a deep financial crisis the paper is experiencing since the government of Sudan banned its printing in Khartoum after the Independence.

He said the decision was taken to meet the high cost of printing the paper in Kampala.

Mr. Koma added that four of the reporters affected were contributors while one was contracted by the paper.

He added that The Juba Post will readmit them as soon its finances are healthier.

Mr. Koma urged the Information Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin to bring a printing press to the country because government is the only institution capable to do so at the moment.

Mr. Koma explained that printing money and government reports outside the South Sudan exposes confidentiality and represents a huge loss for the economy.
