The spread of HIV AIDS in South Sudan and its effect is like a time bomb ticking away in the new nation.
John Wajo, from South Sudan AIDS Commission, made the remark in Torit during an interview with Radio Emmanuel.He said HIV is spreading in South Sudan in silence endangering the new nation.
Mr. Wajo cautioned the community to undertake awareness and prevention measures before the disease destroys the workforce of the country.
He was in Torit as facilitator of three-day workshop for community leaders together with Gabriel Atillio, deputy Director for planning and policy in South Sudan AIDS Commission.
Mr. Atillio said the workshop targeted teachers, chiefs, youth and women leaders and people living with HIV.
Mr. Atillio urged the community to accept advice from their leaders on HIV awareness.
He added that people should not believe in false concepts that AIDS is for town people or foreigners.
The three-day workshop that ended today was organized by South Sudan AIDS Commission in collaboration with its state counterpart and the state ministry of Health to empower community leaders on HIV AIDS awareness.
