Sudanese authorities closed the offices of the opposition SPLM-North after clashes erupted between SAF and troops loyal to Blue Nile state Governor Malik Agar.
SPLM-North Secretary General Yasir Arman said yesterday in a press release that security forces shut down the premises of the party in Khartoum, West and North Darfur, Jezira, White Nile and Sennar states, apprehending documents and assets.The office of the SPLM-North secretary general in Khartoum was also ceased.
The crackdown comes after Khartoum authorities accused the SPLM-North to operate illegally without being registered after South Sudan became independent.
Kamal Obeid the government spokesperson said the SPLM-North has to register officially and to disband its armed militias in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
