KALKADA UNDER CHOLERA OUTBREAK

Residents of Kalkada village in Haiban, Nuba Mountains, are at the mercy of an outbreak of cholera that killed already two children.

The Social Protection Officer in Kumbur Payam said the first cases of cholera where registered on Sunday.

He added that two children died and one adult is in critical condition.

The officer added the disease spreads through the food due to lack of hygiene.

He urged people to cover their food to avoid the spread of cholera.

He called on parents to rush their children to the hospital when they start vomiting and having watery diarrhoea.

He advised each family to dig a pit latrine at home in order to prevent the spread of cholera and other related diseases.
