Christian students from the Catholic University of South Sudan expressed happiness to celebrate the Muslim Eid El Fitr holiday with Muslims.
The University administration granted a holiday to the students to commemorate the Eid El Fitr, the end of Ramadan, with the Muslims, Bakhita Radio reported.Ganun Victor, a fourth-year student, said the Catholic Social Teaching stresses the need to respect the dignity of all human beings.
He added that the Church is universal and respects and embraces the feasts of other religions.
Mr. Ganun said Eid El Fitr resembles the Christian celebrations of Christmas and Easter.
Nuna Roda is a third year student. She said it is not bad to miss some lessons in order to join Muslims in their feast.
She added that Muslims have the right to celebrate their feasts and be recognized in South Sudan.
Ms. Roda said she was going to join the Muslims in celebrating the end of Ramadan.
The Catholic University administration offered a free launch to all students at the Juba campus.
