South Sudan Army is accusing Khartoum of involvement in clashes that killed more than 50 people in Upper Nile.

More than 43 fighters are reported to have sustained injuries on Saturday in clashes which broke out in Kaka County, Upper Nile state, between the SPLA and forces allegedly loyal to George Athor and Gordon Koang.

SPLA spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told SSTV last evening that the South Sudan army flushed the rebels from Alal area of Kaka County in Upper Nile state.

He said the rebels were supported by Arab militias from the Sudan.

Col. Aguer explained that 50 attackers were killed and two captured, while seven SPLA soldiers died and 22 others sustained injuries.

He said South Sudan forces recovered some ammunition from the attackers.

He added that militia groups also planted landmines near Bentiu, in Unity State

Col. Aguer condemned Khartoum’s aggression.

He said South Sudan would register a complaint with the UN Mission in South Sudan.

Col. Aguer said the rebel group included forces from George Athor, Gordon Koang and pro-Khartoum Arab militias from Misseriya and Nuba Mountains.
