The new governor of South Sudan Central Bank revealed to the council of ministers yesterday that over 1.2 billion old Sudanese pounds have been exchanged.
Caretaker Information Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin told journalists that OVER one billion old Sudanese Pounds was collected by the bank and nearly 900 millions are on the process.He urged the citizens to continue exchanging their money because the process will end on September 1, except for Wuror County and some parts of Warrap states which are affected by insecurity.
Dr. Marial explained that the exchange could not proceed in some payams of Wuror County due to latest Murles’ attacks which killed many people.
He said those areas affected with insecurity will be considered even if the dateline elapsed.
The minister added that about 180,000 Wuror people were not able to exchange their money yet.
