Organized forces officers yesterday marched through the streets of Tonj town, Warrap State, while singing freedom songs, preparing for the parade to mark the independence celebrations in the county.

Police officers are pressing traders and residents to clean their premises while a general clean-up operation is planned for Saturday to get Tonj dirt-free for the independence, Don Bosco FM reported.

Tonj South County Police Chief Inspector Joseph Mayei said the force is ready to keep security in preparation for the independence declaration.

He added that every boma and payam in South Tonj made preparations to celebrate independence.

The inspector urged the communities in the county to welcome the new nation in peace and without conflicts.

He said police were already deployed in the five payams of South Tonj with the respective flags to be raised during the celebrations of independence.

Mr. Mayei noted that he toured all the payams in the county and found everybody and everything ready to welcome the new county.
