The people of South Sudan should celebrate its independence with the people who live in the special areas, especially Abyei and Nuba Mountains in their hearts.
The request comes from the directress of Voice of Love FM, in Malakal.Sr. Elena Balati urged the people of South Sudan to unite in order to overcome the challenges affecting the birth of the new country.
She said Southerners could not forget the people of Abyei and Nuba Mountains who are still facing grave problems.
Sr. Elena appealed to the people of South Sudan to unite and fight against tribalism as they accomplish the legitimate aspirations to freedom and more justice and peace in South Sudan.
The Comboni Sister asked people to pray for peace in the contested areas of Abyei, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile as Southerners thank God for the achievement of freedom during their independence celebrations.
Sr. Elena made these statements in a farewell speech to her staff before going to Italy on home leave.
