Music is a good means to fight tribalism, racial discrimination and corruption, the post-independence enemies, and artists should join hands for a new South Sudan.
This is the position reggae artist Caesar Mayan shared with SCR News yesterday at the Fete de la Musique √ɬê The Music’s Feast, celebration at Kwoto Cultural Centre in Juba.He said he was happy that in two weeks’ time South Sudan would be a country but he expressed a huge concern about the issues facing its future.
He explained that the songs in his album Debeledna Ð Our Country are messages about tribalism and corruption.
Mr. Mayan said South Sudan needs to focus on real issues at home rather than talking of fighting the Arabs.
He added that the new nation has to fight tribalism and racial discrimination if it wants to go forward.
Mr. Mayan said it was important to be independent, but the people and the way they move are much more important.
