Works at John Garang’s Mausoleum, which is to host the independence declaration, are behind schedule but should be completed on time.
Undersecretary in GoSS ministry of Culture and Heritage Jok Madut Jok told SCR news that his ministry was assigned with the task to prepare the venue to raise the flag and the area to host the guests and locals.He said constructions are behind schedule and demolitions are still taking place in the space to accommodate the local population.
Mr. Jok said that the venue will be handed over on time to the protocol committee when it is ready.
He added that the security will ensure that the venue is safe for foreign dignitaries and the locals attending the independence proclamation.
Mr. Jok said the celebration will not be lavish because funds are limited.
He added that people will express their joy through cultural dances from different tribes in South Sudan.
