Militias from Unity State killed at least 29 people, including civilians and police officers, three days ago in Akop Payam of Warrap state.

SPLA spokesman Col. Phillip Aguer Panyang told SCR news that militias loyal to Peter Gadet crossed into Warrap from Unity state targeting civilians in cattle camps and small size police stations.

He added that seven police men were killed together with two officers, a major and a first lieutenant.

However, Don Bosco FM said reported that Marko Magok, a resident at Akop Payam, told the radio by phone that the raiders carried out a surprise attack at 5:00 am on Monday and they killed 26 civilians and seven policemen.

The dead included children, women and old people.

Mr. Magok added that the attackers took a few cows and they shot them dead on the way.

He said that many people were left homeless because their houses were burnet and are living under the trees.

Local chiefs are appealing for humanitarian assistance for the displaced by the raid.
