Persons with disabilities are complaining that they have been left out of independence celebrations.

Joko Sule Lado heads the Information for Central Equatoria Disabled Persons Union. He told SCR News today that the disabled were not involved in the preparation or will participate in the upcoming Republic of South Sudan’s Independence celebrations.

He explained that there were plans for a football match between disabled persons from Juba and Yei and the teams were already practicing but it was called off due to lack of budget.

He complained that the government ignored the role of persons with disabilities in the celebration of independence.

Mr. Sule added that the disabled persons of South Sudan love their country and have the right to participate in the celebrations and contribute through sports.

He said the disabled persons contributed significantly during elections and referendum campaigns in rallies and other activities, but now the government forgot them.

Mr. Sule added that the disabled should engage in the new country because they too have steaks in the Republic of South Sudan.
