Hundreds of Juba residents turned up this morning for the weekly campaign to keep the city clean for Independence celebrations.
GoSS ministry of health launched the cleaning campaign one week ago and Juba residents gave a positive answer.Supervisor Clement Okete told SCR News that the people showed interest to participate in the cleaning activities.
He said the participants were working hard to achieve the Keep Juba Clean goal.
Sarah Kani, a student at Juba Commercial Secondary School, said she joined the campaign not for the money but because she wants to live in a clean city.
Worker Christopher Tomor said the cleaning should be done every day because independence is five weeks away.
He added that it could represent an employment opportunity for jobless people.
Dozen of people were busy this morning cleaning around the cemetery, Hai Malakal, Custom, Konyo Konyo, the airport road and other areas.
Each participant receives a compensation of 20 pounds.
