New student nurses at Rumbek Nursing School say they were motivated to do the Certified Community Nursing Course by the health needs in their locality, promising to offer health services to the needy people of South Sudan after completing the course.
Good News Radio caught up with some of the students in Rumbek Campus just before they left for Mapuordit to start their first academic year.Paul Biliu Mut, 28, said his community of Ulang County, Upper Nile State, was in dire need of health workers and he wanted to render health services to his community.
Another student nurse from Ulang County, John Jal Gatluak, said he enrolled on the nursing course to fight common diseases in his area, including malaria, pneumonia, meningitis and tuberculosis.
He said he wanted to be a medical doctor.
John Lew Pur, 25, from Nazir County, Upper Nile State, said he wanted to know more about diseases and medicines.
Nineteen candidates drawn from different States of South Sudan have been accepted at Rumbek Nursing School this academic year and started today the course at Mapuordit Hospital.
