Nineteen ex-combatant women yesterday completed the first stage of a hotel management course in Torit.

The former soldiers started their training on food processing in February, Emmanuel Radio reported.

On Monday, they will start a course on business management.

Sacred Hearts Sister Jane Rose, the main trainer in food processing, appreciated the trainees’ commitment.

She said the start was not easy since most of the participants did not like the course.

She urged Eastern Equatoria business community to consider the trained ex-combatants as capable to do their work well and give them an opportunity.

South Sudan Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration Commission Coordinator Achemo Mary Bul recognized the training offered by German International Service (GIZ) saying that it went better than in other states.

She said there were 684 former soldiers to be trained and reintegrated in Eastern Equatoria.

The trainees displayed different snacks during a demonstration of their skills at Fr. Saturlino’s Hall in Torit.
