The SPLM has rejected the South Kordofan elections saying the vote was rigged by the NCP.

SPLM spokesperson Yian Matthew told SCR News that his party does not recognize the results declared by the commission because they announced the wrong count: Abdelaziz al-Hilu was the winner, not Ahmed Haroun.

He noted that although the election process kicked off peacefully, the NCP rigged the process by adding un-existing polling centres.

Mr. Yian added that the announcement of Mr. Ahmed Haroun as governor will create a negative impact to the popular consultations that should follow the vote.

He said the situation in South Kordofan is very dangerous and critical.

The election commission announced that NCP candidate Mr. Haroun defeated his SPLM rival Mr Abdelaziz with more than 6,000 votes.
