An intensive movement of forces in the Abyei area might trigger a human rights crisis, South Sudan Human Rights chief said.

Lawrence Korbandy told the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly members today that his commission is aware of the deployment of armed forces in Abyei which may give license to human rights violations.

He called upon GoSS to discuss the Abyei issue with the national government in Khartoum to prevent intensive human right violations on the people of Abyei.

Mr. Korbandy also mentioned about the rebels who are fighting the government of South Sudan.

He appealed to MPs from the affected areas to seek a solution before human rights are violated more than they have already been.

Mr. Korbandy mentioned the LRA attacks in Western Equatoria State and road banditism in Eastern Equatoria State.

He said human rights are being violated and called upon the government to seek a solution to the latter.
