The Catholic Bishops of the Sudan are starting tomorrow a week long extraordinary meeting to study the current changes within the country and check their own expectations.

Joseph Michael Kanido, the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC) communication officer, told SCR News that the extraordinary plenary assembly will deal with the current situation and how it is affecting the Catholic Church in North and South Sudan.

Mr. Kanido said 13 bishops will be present at the meeting together with the representative of the Pope in the Sudan and senior church officials.
Two bishops are absent due to health problems.

Mr. Kanido asked the Catholic community to pray for the extraordinary meeting’s success and support the bishops with their own ideas.

Mr. Kanido also invited the media houses to cover the opening and closing sessions of the assembly.

The extraordinary SCBC plenary assembly starts at 8:30 AM with a mass presided by Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako, the president of the conference, at St. Michael’s Church, in Juba.
