A group of lay people, religious and priests met with the Archbishop of Juba to share their reflections on the topics that are part of the agenda for the next Catholic bishops’ Assembly.
The 30 or so participants discussed the findings of four study groups that met yesterday. They covered issues related to the challenges the independence of South Sudan puts to the Church including its organization, formation of local religious and clergy, financial meltdown, national secretariats and seminaries.
Archbishop Paolino Lukudo Loro told SCR News at the end of the meeting that the participants wanted to assist the Bishops of Sudan with ideas that will support them while making their decisions.
Archbishop Lukudu added that the participants did a beautiful job.
The findings will be presented to the Bishops’ assembly that starts on Friday, April 1, with an opening mass at St. Michael’s Church, led by the president of the bishops’ conference, Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako of Khartoum.
