The Sudan Council of Churches in Upper Nile issued a message of peace and consolation to the citizens of Malakal and surrounding areas following two incidents of heavy fighting between army and militia forces in the past weeks.

Leaders of the Catholic, Episcopal, Presbyterian and Sudan Interior Churches used the Voice of Love FM antenna to call people to reconciliation and forgiveness as the way out from violence.

At the same time they warned that life was sacred and anyone who attempted to touch it √É’touched God himself’.

The religious leaders invited all communities of Upper Nile to recognize and appreciate each one’s contribution to the building of the nation.

They asked the faithful to pray for the civil authorities while suggesting to the local government that the security of the citizens is taken care of by the Police and not by the SPLA.
