At least 40 shops and restaurants are reported to have been reduced to ashes last night in a fire outbreak at Juba Bridge market.

Ojibe Fred Namboye, who chairs the Ugandan business community in Juba Bridge, told Bakhita Radio that more than 40 shops were burned together with money and stocks, including over 100 motorbikes.

Mr. Fred estimated that the burned stocks were worth of over 30,000 US Dollars.

One person who was seriously injured in the fire is under treatment at Juba Teaching Hospital.

The fire was apparently started by a candle.
