A woman has called on her compatriots to take special care of South Sudan, describing it as a new baby in need of protection.

Mary Nyantoc Dol is a member of St. Monica’s Women Association of Holy Family Cathedral Parish, Rumbek.

She told Good News Radio that South Sudan was born after the referendum and it needs the protection of both men and women to grow.

Mama Nyantoc said the best way to protect this new nation is love and hard work, adding that the freedom that has been won cannot co-exist with acts of revenge and discrimination.

Mama Nyantoc stressed the need of collaboration between men, women, young and old, adding that the new nation cannot be built by lazy people sitting under the tree all the day long.

She encouraged citizens of South Sudan to be actively involved in building their nation, including farming as a way of earning one’s living.

Mama Nyantoc visits families offering counselling services and raising awareness on girls’ education through Mercy Beyond Borders financial assistance.
