GoSS information minister said key media laws would be passed before the independence of South Sudan to pave the way for a democratic environment in the new state.
Barnaba Marial Benjamin told journalists today that the media laws are waiting to go back to the parliament for discussion because all parties involved in the process are satisfied with their current state.Dr. Marial added that the laws are not only to safeguard journalists but for the interests of government and the community as well.
The laws have been pending for more than three years and the delay has created a hostile environment for journalists operating in South Sudan.
