Women from the whole of Sudan have been discussing their participation in the post-referendum negotiations between Juba and Khartoum.

The three-day conference organized by South Sudan Women’s Empowerment Network aimed at increasing women’s participation in post referendum discussions.

Network’s chief officer Lillian Rizig told SCR News that the women discussed and prepared their positions about post-referendum issues being negotiated between the peace partners in order to bring their voices and their ideas to the talks.

Ms. Rizig said the participants compiled their joint views on borders, citizenship, wealth sharing and security to present to the negotiators.

The conference started on Thursday under the theme Mainstreaming Women’s Participation in the post referendum arrangements.

Participants came from Khartoum, Darfur and the ten states of South Sudan.
