Eastern Equatoria agriculture minister said youth should be empowered to promote farming development in his state.

Jerome Gama Suru told Bakhita Radio that the youth have more chance to use the knowledge they acquire to improve living standards in the state than older folks.

He said his ministry would help the youth acquire the skills necessary to boost farming.

Mr. Gama encouraged men who look after cattle to engage in farming and help women’s work in the fields.

In some counties of Eastern Equatoria, men look after cattle while women cultivate fields for domestic consumption.
