Heiban County residents, in Nuba Mountais, turned up in great numbers to register for the South Kordofan State elections slated for April.

Barnaba Abdulmajid Kuku, county political affairs secretary, told Voice of Peace that the county has three geographical constituencies and over 40,000 people have already registered to take part in the elections for South Kordofan’s governor and legislative assembly.

Mr. Abdulmajid added that there are some centres with a high number of registered voters and others with few people due to lack of adequate information in some areas.

He said centres have been given one extra day to register voters.

Mr. Abdulmajid commented that electoral high commission send aged registration staff to some constituencies and it made the work slow.

He concluded that registration is going on well due to the participation of both security and political agents that are monitoring the exercise.
