The US pledged continued support for education in South Sudan through the USAID.
Mark Emblidge, an education advisor with USAID, told the press today in Juba that his country is ready to strengthen its investment in South Sudan education programmes.Dr. Emblidge said education of children and adults was key for the development of South Sudan and the government should make its greatest investment in the sector.
Dr. Emblidge urged the government to seek contributions to education from the private sector and other countries.
He urged the government to tap on the visibility the referendum gave to South Sudan in the international arena.
Dr. Emblidge said the government should invite Southerners in the diaspora to come home and help with their talents to develop education.
He revealed that the US government spent more money in education in south Sudan than any other county in Africa and intended to keep up with its support.
