The number of returnees coming south is overwhelming and there is the real risk of a humanitarian crisis, a leading aid agency said.
Edwin Asante, who heads World Vision in the Sudan, told SCR News that more than two thousand south Sudanese return from the north every day.He noted that the returnees are supposed to stay at the transit points for a shorter period for registration and then be transported to their final destinations.
Mr. Asante said the numbers of huge and resettlement is slow and there are many people in concentration points.
Mr. Asante added that returning children have to have a special place at concentration points because they remain there for a longer period.
He mentioned protection of returnees and prevention of outbreak of diseases as other challenges in the concentration points.
Mr. Asante called upon the international community to increase their efforts to ensure that the returnees are fully catered for.
