The Sudan Council of Churches in collaboration with Sudan Ecumenical Forum is conducting a consultative debate to discuss the situation of the Church in Northern Sudan after the referendum.

The three-day forum started yesterday in Khartoum under the theme “Peace and Faith: securing peaceful coexistence after referendum.”

Ezekiel Kondo is the Bishop of the ECS diocese of Khartoum. He told the participants at the opening ceremony that the forum is meant to discuss and prepare the vision of the Churches in the Northern Sudan after the referendum.

Bishop Kondo urged the participants to spell out the difficulties the Churches may meet and how to face them.

Bishop Kondo said the forum was a preparatory workshop which is intended to make all churches in the North aware of their future.

The forum is attended by over 100 church personnel from 16 churches including Catholic, Episcopal, Africa Inland and Pentecostal.
