The returnees arriving in Lakes State were assured of health care services availed at the way-station clinics where the returnees are temporarily hosted before being taken to their final destinations.
Ezekiel Muorwel Maker, the health officer in charge of Rumbek Returnees Way-Station, told Good News Radio that health services for the returnees at Rumbek way-station were in place since December 18.Mr Muorwel said the clinic attended 410 returnee patients and 130 children under the age of five were vaccinated.
He added that his team conducted health education session with the returnees on disease prevention and control.
Mr Muorwel called upon the returnees who left the temporary camps and were in need of health services to come back to the camp’ clinics for assistance.
He said that the health services for the returnees come from the collaboration between Lakes State Ministry of Health, UN organizations and other NGOs like ACROSS in a bid to prevent and control diseases.
Mr Muorwel explaining that those stakeholders provided medical supplies and staff to the clinics at the way-stations.
Lakes State has so far received almost 1,500 returnees from Northern Sudan to be settled in its eight counties.
