Eastern Equatoria Parliament adjourned its sittings yesterday to allow MPs to travel to their constituencies for the referendum voter campaign that started today.
Speaker Emmanuel Ambrose Ocholimoi closed the House until January 18 but the members of the financial committee have to report four days earlier to deliberate on the 2011 Budget before its final presentation to the Parliament.Mr. Ocholimoi told Emmanuel Radio that he urged the parliamentarians to educate voters about the referendum symbols and how to vote and where to put their fingerprint for the ballot to be valid.
The speaker assured those advocating for unity equal opportunity to express their views like those campaigning for separation.
Mr. Ocholimoi reiterated the readiness of Eastern Equatoria government to provide transport for people who live far from the referendum centres where they vote.
He urged MPs to consult with the State Referendum Commission to get the right information to pass on to voters during the campaign.
