Several youth groups rallied through the streets of Juba to support the independence of southern Sudan in the upcoming referendum due in 31 days-time.
South Sudan Youth Forum, South Sudan Youth League, Southern Sudan Youth for Separation and many youth organizations led this morning’s procession from Juba Football Stadium to John Garang’s Mausoleum.Hundreds of marchers wore yellow T-shirts while chanting the slogan Bye- bye to Khartoum, Yes- yes for separation and No-no for unity.
Marcher Emmanuel Thiap told Bakhita Radio that the independence for southerners was a question of life.
Mr. Thiap advised citizens of the South to vote for a sovereign secular state of their own in the referendum.
Bishop Paul Yugusuk, who was also in the procession, said he was excited to join the final day of the rally because the registration was successful.
Lona Emmanuel said it was important to come to the procession to tell the world that Southern Sudan was separating from northern Sudan.
Hundreds of people marched joyfully with cars carrying a huge single hand waving bye- bye.
The youth league has been organizing a referendum procession on the ninth of every month.
