Yei River Count Referendum Subcommittee urged observers and media houses to cooperate while reporting the challenges the subcommittee is facing in some referendum centres.
Fr. Simon Khamis Mabe is the Public Outreach Programme Manager for the Subcommittee. He lamented the absence of observers in the 58 referendum centres to monitor what is taking place on the ground, Easter Radio reported.Fr. Khamis said that there was poor dissemination of information on voter registration.
He appealed to civil societies’ organizations to put their resources together so that citizens get daily information on the progress of registration.
Fr. Khamis said that about 78 thousand people registered in Yei County for the last 15 days.
He added that the total was below of that of the April elections.
Fr. Khamis made these statements this morning at a press conference in the Referendum Subcommittee Office in Yei.
