Jesuits plan to resume pastoral activities and strengthen their presence in the Sudan.

Fr. Jean-Roger Ndombi, who serves at the Jesuits’ central government in Rome as assistant for the African continent and Madagascar, told Good News Radio that members of the Jesuit order started coming to Sudan after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Fr. Ndombi added that he supports the reinforcement of the Jesuit’s presence both in South and North Sudan in various Church projects and institutions.

Fr. Ndombi said formation is the biggest priority for the order and Jesuits are ready to contribute in the training of future priests in Sudan though they experience shortage of formators.

Fr. Ndombi expressed the wish for a smooth referendum to bring about “peace, hope and life for everybody.”

Jesuits, also known as Society of Jesus, are present in Rumbek, Wau, Juba and Khartoum involved in education, formation and pastoral activities.
