The Commission in charge of reintegrating combatants into civilian life blamed the media for public mistrust towards their activities.
The Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration (DDR) Commission started yesterday a three-day workshop in Juba to enlighten journalists about its vision, mission, objectives and plans.Central Equatoria Reintegration officer, Joyce Kamara, told SCR News that the media did not have enough information about the DDR activities to pass the right message to the public.
Ms Kamara added that the DDR activities are a means to secure stability in any post-conflict area.
Ms. Kamara said the media was not following every single step taken by the DDR commission while implementing its programs.
She expected that at the end of the trainings journalist would be able to help change the bad image of the commission and make the population aware of DDR activities.
