GoSS Director of Public Prosecution and Constitutional Development, Filberto Mareng, told women lawyers today in Juba that Southerners needed to understand that the referendum had many challenges to face.

Mr. Mareng said certain individuals did not want the southerners to attain their independence and were working hard to ensure the referendum failed.

Mr. Mareng added that women were a vulnerable group that could be used to derail the referendum process.

He urged women lawyers to enlighten their counterparts in order not to be misused against the plebiscite.

Female activists are working hard to ensure that disadvantage women are educated on their rights before the referendum vote.
