Women associated in small businesses in South Sudan met in Juba to get support and consolidate and expand their market position and display their products.
Community and Church based women groups organized a one-day forum today in Juba to discuss the challenges they face and open new markets for their products.
Florence Aikoru is founder of Mothers Group in Juba. She told SCR News that business women started looking for opportunities and government support to expand their businesses.
Ms. Aikoru said the women aimed to compete at regional and international market selling local goods.
Ms. Aikoru added that the lack of business space was a major challenge to women that do not have money to compete with men even on women related businesses like bread making.
She said that women lack capital and do not have access to microfinance to borrow money.
The women displayed a variety of items for sale including cakes, beads, handicrafts, and ointment products from lulu seeds.
