Juba and Upper Nile students of Medicine called on the Government of Southern Sudan for immediate relocation of its universities still operating in Khartoum.

Over 15 medicine students came to Juba to present their request to GoSS Ministry of Higher Education and to the University of Juba while demanding an urgent intervention.

The delegation told SCR News that students experienced close monitoring by Sudan police in Khartoum and it created intense fear among students.

They added that fear and harassment would not allow them to concentrate in their studies.

The students asked for their relocation from Khartoum to the South before the referendum.

The student said the situation worsened when media in the North published their concerns and some were threatened with dismissal.
