Yei River County Commissioner warned non governmental organizations supporting the education sector to follow local government directives for the sector.
Commissioner David Lokonga Moses told NGOs working in education to implement local guidelines or else face expulsion, Easter Radio reported.Mr. Lokonga thanked NGOs that were able to respond to what they were required to do.
He added that NGOs that did not want to comply with the authorities’ requirements could be banned from the county.
Mr. Lokonga noted that lack of qualified teachers was one of the challenges schools faced in the county.
The commissioner urged the parents to send their children to school instead of forcing them to get married and encouraged the community to report cases of early or forced marriage to the police.
The commissioner made these statements today during the opening of a conference on education at Jigomoni Primary in Yei.
