RED CROSS VOWS SUPPORT TO SUDAN

The Federation of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies vowed to support the Sudanese counterpart in order to serve better its people.

Various Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies across the world including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Britain, USA, and Spain, met in Juba for a two-day partnership assembly.

African Zone Red Cross Director, Alasan Senghore, said in order to be relevant the federation has to be present in Southern Sudan and support the Sudanese Red Crescent.

Mr. Senghore added that the federation was worried by the huge humanitarian crisis in the Sudan.

He added it was critical to ensure the sustainability of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society.

Mr. Senghore said it was important to reinforce the capacity of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in order to sustain its future.

Different Red Cross and Red Crescent societies have been operating in South and North Sudan serving in various emergencies including wars, HIV and AIDS, hunger, natural disasters to mention but a few.
